Local officials in Nangarhar have reported the killing of 30 Taliban Red Unit insurgents including 3 Pakistani commanders in the province.
As a result of night the raid by National Directorate of Security forces in Kudi Khel area of Sherzad district of the province, 30 Taliban Red Unit fighters including 3 Pakistani citizens were killed, press office of Nangarhar province said in a statement on Monday.
14 other members of Taliban Red Unit were wounded in the operation and two transmission and two hideouts were also destroyed, the statement added.
Press office of Nangarhar province said in another report that as a result of clashes of security forces in Ghazi Babai area in Surkh-Rod district, Ehsanullah known as Jehadyar, a local Taliban commander was killed.
Nai – Supporting open media in Afghanistan has expressed that posing restrictions on publication of any news is in fact a direct violation of law and the right to access to information, and the journalists and public should not be denied of this right.
Setting up constraints for journalist and the media is like stifling the throat of freedom of expression, Nai said in a statement on Monday.

Nai considered the statements of Takhar Police Chief as an explicit violation of the law to access to information and asked Ministry of Interior to give clarification to statements of Takhar Police Chief and determine whether police chief’s statement is official view of the Ministry or not.
National Directorate of Security had announced that 12 commanders of Haqqani network were killed in Khost province.
As a result of an operation by NDS elite forces on hideouts of Haqqani terrorist network in Sarabi district in Khost province, 12 commanders of the network were killed, NDS said in a statement on Monday.
The commanders killed in the operation were involved in destructive and terrorist activities and also in transferring weapons and ammunition to other terrorist groups, according to NDS statement.
The National Directorate of Security added that another member of the Haqqani Network was wounded and three suspicious individuals were detained in the operation and some weapons have also been seized by NDS forces.
Senior officials from Afghanistan and Pakistan are set to hold talks on Monday under a bilateral arrangement to improve cooperation in different fields.
The Afghan side will be represented and led by Deputy Foreign Minister Idrees Zaman and Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood will be leading the Pakistan delegation at the first review session of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).
“The forthcoming session will provide the two sides an opportunity to review progress made under this framework since the inaugural session and to exchange views on further collaboration in agreed areas of cooperation,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.
There are five working groups in the format on politico-diplomatic ties; military-to-military coordination; intelligence cooperation; economic cooperation and refugees’ problem.
The inaugural session of APAPPS was held in Kabul on July 22, 2018.
Security officials have reported an officer of the Ministry of Defense was killed in Kabul city on Monday.
According to the reports, Major Abkar, an officer of Ministry of Defense was shot dead by unidentified individuals in thr Ab Rasani area, PD5 of Kabul city on Monday morning.
Confirming the incident, Ferdows Faramarz spokesperson of the Kabul Police told Reporterly that, the case is under investigation by the security forces.
In a released statement, the Taliban insurgent group took the responsibility of this incident.
The Ministry of Interior announced that Five Taliban insurgents were killed and three others arrested during overnight operation carried out by Afghan National Police (ANP) in Shaniz Daree and Dando villages, Sayed Abad district of Maidan Wardak.
ANP also seized a huge quantity of explosive substances and four motorcycles.
In the meantime, yesterday, a Taliban insurgent who was planting Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was arrested during an operation of the Afghan National Police (ANP) in Jalriz district of Maidan Wardak.
In another news, the General Command of Police Special Units (GCPSU) conducted overnight operation in Kata Qala village, Pashtun Kot district of Faryab and as a result, two Taliban insurgents were killed and three others injured.
An ammunition depot and several vehicles used by the militants destroyed as well.
Local officials have reported that in Farah, 17 individuals were killed and wounded as a result of shooting by a Mosque Mullah Imam. As per reports, the Mullah Imam shot on 3 families in Farah province.
Speaking to Reporterly on Monday, Farooq Barekzai, spokesperson of Farah governor said that as a result of shooting by Mullah Mohammad Ali on Sunday in Khaki Safed district of the province, 11 members of 3 families including women and children were shot dead and 6 others were wounded.
Local residents attributed the reason of shooting by the Mullah Imam to personal hostility towards the three families, as per Barekzai.
According to spokesman of Farah governor, the Mullah Imam has been detained by Taliban.
Meanwhile, Dadullah Qaneh, a member of Farah Provincial Council also told Reporterly that a Mullah Imam shot members of his family and also two neighboring families including women and children in a Taliban dominated area on Sunday.
Mr. Qaneh added that, the motive of this killing isn’t clear yet and the Mullah is detained by Taliban.
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) said on Sunday that the arrest warrant of Habibullah , a former special security advisor to President Ghani, has been issued to the police.

20 year old Afghan swimmer Abbas Karimi has qualified for the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships which will be held in London. Karimi bagged three medals in a competition in Germany before he qualified.

Military officials have reported that a key Taliban commander and his two subordinates were arrested in Ghazni province.
As a result of commando forces operation conducted on Sunday night in the surroundings of Moqor district of Ghazni province, three Taliban insurgents including a key commander of the group were arrested, the Special Operation Corps said in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, an RPJ and a large amount of military ammunition and propaganda papers of Taliban were confiscated in the operation as well.
US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad, who arrived in Kabul on Sunday evening met with President Ghani on Monday.

Also regional requirements & implications for peace including recent positive movement in AfPak relations & opportunities peace will provide for regional connectivity &development”, Khalilzad tweeted.
He added that as Afghan Peace Process talks continue to progress, they agreed on preparation for intra-Afghan negotiations now being essential.
