The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says at least 68 new cases of the coronavirus have been registered in the country during the past 24 hours.
MoPH officials said that the new cases include 13 cases in Ghazni, 11 in Paktia, 9 in Paktika, 8 in Balkh, 6 in Badghis, 6 in Kabul, 4 in Nangarhar, 4 in Herat, 3 in Laghman, 3 in Khost and one in Baghlan province.
This comes as with the registration of the new cases, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country reaches 1531 with 207 patients recovered and 50 death toll.
NATO’s Resolute Support Mission said on Sunday it was distributing health supplies to 16,000 police officers in Kabul amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The supplies include 18,000 surgical masks, 18,000 gloves, 18,000 disinfectants and sanitizers, protective equipment kits and infrared thermometers, RS said.
It said that the supplies were to assist police efforts to provide security and stop the spread of coronavirus in Kabul.
“NATO Resolute Support stands behind our Afghan partners,” RS said.
This comes as Afghanistan has registered more than 1,400 cases of coronavirus.
Officials at the Public Health department in Herat province say at least four new cases of the coronavirus were registered in the province’s laboratory during the past 24 hours.
The Health department spokesman said that of the 33 suspected cases of the coronavirus, four of them have confirmed positive.
With the registration of the new cases, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Herat reaches 390 with eight deaths and 97 recovered.
The Public Health department in Nangarhar province says at least 11 new cases of the coronavirus were registered in the province’s laboratory during the past 24 hours.
The health department in a press release said that 28 suspected samples were tested which four cases in Nangarhar, four in Kunar and three other in Laghman were confirmed positive.
According to the officials, a patient of the coronavirus has also died of the virus during the past 24 hours.
