    Four Key Taliban Commanders Killed in Faryab Province

    Afghan army in the north reported that four key Taliban commanders and seven subordinates were killed in Faryab province. Press office of 209 Shaheen Corps said in a statement on Thursday that “


    as a result of clashes between defense and security forces and Taliban in the past 12 hours, in Dawlat Abad, Khwaja Sabz Posh and Qaysar districts of Farah province, four Taliban commanders of Taliban group by the name of Qari Gulbuddin, Qari Mohammadullah, Mullah Zarif known as Taimani and Mullah Abdullah known as Jahangeer were killed, along with 7 subordinates of these commanders in Faryab province.

    During the clashes, a security personnel was killed and three others were wounded in Qaisar district of the province, Shaheen Corps added.

    20 Taliban Insurgents Arrested in Gelan District of Ghazni Province

    Local officials reported that 40 Taliban insurgents were killed, wounded and arrested in the past 24 hours in Ghazni province.

    “As a result of Afghan special forces operation and coalition forces air strike in past 24 hours in surrounding of center of Ghazni and also Gelan and Giro districts of Ghazni, 17 Taliban insurgents were killed, 3 were injured and 20 others were arrested,” Mohammad Arif Noori spokesman of Ghazni governor told Reporterly on Thursday.

     

    Ghazni governor’s spokesman stressed that, famous and key Taliban members might be among arrested insurgents.

    Afghan Population Comprises of 51% Male & 49% Female

    The National Statistic Organization has announced that of total 32.2 million population of Afghanistan, 51 percent of them are males and 49 percent are females.

    According to the organization, of total population of Afghanistan, 16.4 million of them are men and 15.8 million are women.

    “Based on statistics, Afghanistan’s population is estimated at 32.2 million people, 71.3% of them in rural areas, 24% in urban areas and 4.7% Kochi nomads,” National Statistic Organization said on Thursday.

    7 Taliban Insurgents Killed and Wounded in Balkh

    Afghan Army in northern part of Afghanistan reported that seven Taliban insurgents were killed and wounded in Balkh province.

    “In a Taliban attack on the supply convoy of security forces in Aaq Tapa area of Chahar Bolak district of Balkh province, 4 Taliban insurgents were killed and 3 others were wounded,” said press office of 209 Shaheen Corps said on Thursday.

    According to Shaheen Corps, two security forces were injured in the clash.

    Khalid: Afghanistan’s Army Defends Peace

    Asadullah Khalid, theActing Defense Minister said on Wednesday that they are committed to peace and Afghan army is defending the peace process and considers dialogue and peace as the solution.

    Speaking to graduation ceremony of 1000 commando on Wednesday Khalid said, “Commando forces have no personal purpose, and their war is only for peace and pressure on ignorant enemy for peace. Your war is for development of Afghanistan, the heart of the enemy in Punjab has been shaken from your graduation. ”

    Khalid said that defending the country and the nation is one of the main responsibilities of the Afghan Defense and Security Forces and that he is confident that the Afghan forces will shoulder the responsibility with courage and determination.

    “Afghan Army is a national pride and that Afghanistan supports a peace process which will respect the gains the country has made over the past years,”Khalid said.

    Mr. Khalid said to newly graduated soldiers that, along with foreign terrorist groups, some countries in the region also support terrorism directly and indirectly.

    Acting Defense Ministry added that the Afghan army supports peace talks, but emphasized that this support would be condition that under the name of peace talks, a new war shouldn’t come to existence
