Tajikistan Wants to Expand Business – Economic Relations with Afghanistan

In a meeting with Afghan Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah in Dushanbe City the Capital of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, Tajik president said that peace and stability in Afghanistan can benefit peace and stability in the region, and asked for expansion of economic relations between the two countries.

Dr. Abdullah met Emomali Rahmon on the sidelines of 5th Summit of Heads of States & Governments of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) on Friday, Office of Chief Executive of Afghanistan said in a statement.

The Tajik President called Afghanistan a friend and strategic ally of his country and said that the relationship of both countries is based on shared cultural and historical values.

CE Abdullah added that, the president of Tajikistan expressed readiness to cooperate with Afghanistan in all fields.

While appreciating the Tajik President’s attention and interest in Afghan affairs and helping peace and reconstruction of the country, Dr. Abdullah emphasized the consolidation and expansion of relations between the two countries and urged for increase of trade and regional connectivity between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

Dr. Abdullah travelled to Dushanbe City of Tajikistan on Friday afternoon to participate in 5th Summit of Heads of States & Governments of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
