The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Sunday, reported its highest single-day increase in global Coronavirus cases on Sunday, with the total rising by 183,020 cases within a 24-hour period.
The UN health agency said 54,771 cases were reported from Brazil itself which was the largest contributor to the tally. The U.S. followed it with 36,617 cases while India reported over 15,400.
North and South America are getting battered by the COVID-19 pandemic as the region reported over 116,000 new cases and over 3,200 deaths.
Hans Kluge, the WHO Regional Director for Europe, said that Europe account for 31% of COVID-19 cases and 43% of the deaths globally.
Total global cases have crossed over 8.7 million while the death toll is at more than 461,000 fatalities.
