    10 Members of Taliban Group for Guerrilla Attacks Arrested in Nimroz

    The National Directorate of Security (NDS) says a Taliban network of ten members for guerrilla attacks have been arrested in Nimroz province.

    NDS in a statement on Sunday said that the detainees have been arrested during an operation in Zarang city, the center of Nimroz province.

    According to the statement, the detainees led by Mawlawi Abdul Marouf have been involved in terrorist activities in Nimroz province.

    The NDS statement stated that the detainees have been involved in assassination of an NDS employee and have organized a plan for assassinating two other officers of Nimroz Police Command.

    The statement further added that the NDS operatives have also seized a number of military equipment from the detainees.

    Air Operation Underway in Mazar-e Sharif to Arrest Qaisari: Officials

    Afghan security officials say an air operation is underway and the helicopters are now shelling the residence of Nizamuddin Qaisari, the former police chief of Faryab’s Qaisar district.

    A provincial member of Balkh, Muhammad Amin Dara Sofi told Repoterly that security forces carried out an air raid on Qaisari’s house, and at the same time Qaisari and his men are fighting with security forces.

    Dara Sofi has not given any details about the casualties of Qaisari’s men but noted that at least four security forces have been wounded so far.

    Qaisari was arrested on July 2, 2018 after an armed clash in Faryab province and transferred to Kabul. After six months he released by security forces.

    Three Terrorists Arrested in Kapisa: MoD

    The Ministry of Defense (MoD) says at least three terrorists have been arrested in the center of Kapisa province.

    MoD in a press release on Sunday said that Police Special Unit in a joint operation arrested three terrorists from Qashqar village, the center of Kapisa province.

    According to the press release, the security forces have seized one laptop, 23 mobile phones, 14 voting cards, 2 Police cards and a card of the Hezb-e Islami party from the detainees.

    ‘Effective Fight Against Corruption Requires A Strong Legal Framework’: Ghani

    Afghan President Ashraf Ghani says an effective fight against corruption requires a strong legal framework and the rule of law cannot be institutionalized by the lack of constitution.

    Speaking at an anti-corruption gathering at the Presidential Palace on Sunday, President Ghani said that the fight against corruption has been one of the top priorities of the government for the past five years and the government needs to remain at the forefront.

    “Two years ago, the government succeeded for the first time to adopt a national anti-corruption strategy after extensive discussions. With the aim of reforming the justice sectors, the government has been able to adopt and implement a national justice reform program,” he said.

    In the meantime, President stated that around 124 prosecutors have been killed while trying to implement justice in the country and judicial organizations made huge sacrifices in order to fight against corruption.

    “The government is losing half of its income meddling with illegal armed groups,” he asserted, adding, “I hope that the corruption cases of nearly 70 high ranking government officials to be finalized soon.”

    President insisted that the technology has a key role in preventing corruption in the country.

    “Whenever we set up a technological system, the corruption has been reduced,” he said.

    Ghani also stressed that corruption is against Islamic values, the constitution and the culture of Afghan people which needs works at a cultural level.

    Operation Targeting Arrest of Nezamuddin Qaisari Is Underway: Security Officials

    Afghan security officials in Mazar-e Sharif city of Balkh province say that illegally-armed men affiliated with Nezamuddin Qaisari recently “destabilized the security situation in the city” and an “arrest warrant has been issued.”

    Balkh Police spokesman, Adel Shah Adel told Reporterly, “Police have taken measures to search and arrest Nezamuddin Qaisari’s men after people’s complaints increased against Qaisari.”

    According to Balkh Police, the security forces have again surrounded the house of Qaisari, the former police chief of Faryab’s Qaisar district, but he has not been arrested yet and the operation is underway.

    “Those individuals gathered around Qaisari are all recurring criminals, thieves and murderers, and the Balkh National Defense and Security Forces are determined to enforce the law, arresting Qaisari and his men as soon as possible,” Adel said.

    Qaisari was arrested on July 2, 2018 after an armed clash in Faryab province and transferred to Kabul. After six months he released by security forces.

    Taliban Charity Collector Arrested in Faryab

    A key Taliban group member who was involved in collecting Ushur and Zakat (Charity) was arrested in Faryab province, officials said.

    The Taliban has tended to take over two traditional Islamic levies: Zakat, an obligation on Muslims to donate 2.5 percent of their income to the poor; and Ushur, a 10 percent tax on harvests or produce taken to market.

    Faryab Police press office in a statement on Sunday said the Taliban member named as Alawddin, a resident of Tagap Shan village of Garizwan district has been arrested during an operation.

    According to the statement, the detainee was arrested from Lab-e Darya area at around 18:00p.m (local time) on Saturday night.

    President Ghani Met Noor, Discussed Election Process

    Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has met with the former governor of Balkh, Atta Muhammad Noor and discussed about the Presidential elections, the Presidential Palace (ARG) said.

    ARG in a statement said that the meeting took place in the Presidential Palace on Saturday night.

    “Both sides have discussed about the Presidential election process and the security situation of the country,” the statement said.

    This comes as earlier, the National Security Adviser, Hamdullah Mohib and the Acting Interior Minister, Masoud Andarabi in a trip to Balkh province have visited Atta Muhammad Noor and discussed about further operations against insurgents, ensuring security and maintaining peace in the northern zone of the country.
