    Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Resigns

    Afghan acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Narges Nehan resigned suddenly from her post on Thursday, officials confirmed.

    The spokesman of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Sayhon Kamgar told Reporterly that the acting minister has issued her resignation letter due to private problems.

    Kamgar noted that the Nehan’s resignation letter has been addressed and accepted.

    He added that the technical deputy of the ministry, Enayatullah Momand has been assigned as the acting minister by the President Ashraf Ghani.

    China Reaffirms Support For Intra-Afghan Peace Talks

    China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying at a press conference has reiterated support from intra-Afghan peace talks.

    “China firmly supports the ‘Afghan-led, Afghan-owned,’ broad and inclusive process of peace and reconciliation”, Chunying said in response to a journalist’s question regarding the Taliban’s announced participation in an upcoming peace meeting in China.

    “We support the intra-Afghan dialogue between the Afghan government, the Afghan Taliban and other parties,” She said.

    She added that China is ready to offer help to Afghanistan’s peace and reconciliation process based on China’s “respect for the will of all relevant Afghan parties.”

    This comes as Afghan officials said that talks are ongoing with the Chinese government for a possible summit in Beijing.

    Badghis Police Chief Shot Killed in Kabul

    The provincial police chief of Badghis province was shot killed by Taliban in Kabul on Thursday, officials confirmed.

    The spokesman of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Nasrat Rahimi has confirmed the incident, saying Sharifullah Chamto, police chief of western Badghis province, was killed in Police District 5 of the city around 12:45PM.

    Rahimi further added that the Badghis Police chief was in Kabul to spend his vacation.

    Taliban in a tweet claimed responsibility for killing the Police chief.

    This comes as the security forces killed a terrorist who opened fire on an officer of the Afghan National Police in Kabul today.

    Security Forces Arrested Key Al-Qaeda Member in Helmand

    Al-Qaida’s key member has been arrested in a night raid in Helmand province, the provincial governor’s media office said.

    According to the Helmand media office, the night raid was launched by Afghan forces on Wednesday night in Khanshin district and forces have seized Pakistani identity cards from the al-Qaeda member.

    It also added that another member of al-Qaeda was also arrested during the operation, and security forces discovered weapons.

    Taliban Suffered Heavy Casualties After Attacking Herat Outposts

    Afghan local officials in Herat province say at least 62 Taliban insurgents have been killed during the security forces ground attacks and the Resolute Support airstrikes in Chesht district of the province.

    The spokesman of Herat governor, Jilani Farhad has declared that the attacks carried out after Taliban militants started attacks on security forces’ outposts in the Chesht district.

    According to Farhad, at least 15 Taliban insurgents have also been injured during the attacks.

    He added that the clashes were erupted around the Anten outpost in Bolagh village and the security forces and civilians had no casualties.

    Taliban’s Shadow Intelligence Chief Killed in Ghazni

    The shadow intelligence chief of Taliban for Moqor district of Ghazni province has been killed with 13 other militants, the local officials said.

    The Ghazni governor’s press office in a press release said that security forces along with the uprising forces have launched joint operations in Laram, Bozak areas and Kabul-Kandahar highway in Moqor district.

    “As a result of operations, the Taliban’s shadow intelligence chief for Moqor district named Obaid has been killed with 13 other insurgents and eight others of them were wounded,” the press release said.

    According to the press release, the security forces have not suffered any casualties during the operations.

    “An extortion place of Taliban in Laram area of Moqor district has also destroyed in the operations,” the press release added.

    Women Arrested For Killing Husband With Lover’s Help in Parwan

    Police have arrested a woman with her boyfriend for allegedly killing her Police husband from Parwan province, officials said on Thursday.

    “A Police soldier of the Interior Ministry was killed by his wife and her boyfriend’s help in seventh alley of Khaja Boghra area of Kabul city at 20:00PM on Saturday night,” Ferdaws Faramarz, the spokesman of Kabul Police told Reporterly.

    Farmarz said that the woman named Shabnam along with her boyfriend named Ramin arrested from Parwan province several days after investigations.

    The Kabul Police added that the two detainees have admitted to their crimes.

    NSA Meets With Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister

    The National Security Adviser (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib has met with Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku.

    The sides hailed the current level of development of the Azerbaijani-Afghan relations.

    Mohib highlighted the latest developments in his country. He noted that Azerbaijan’s supporting Afghanistan in both bilateral and multilateral formats is highly appreciated by his country.

    The sides touched upon large-scale transport and energy corridor projects, such as Lapis-Lazuli and TAPI, and stressed that these initiatives contributed to the regional cooperation.

    They also exchanged views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

    Afghan Forces Recapture Dahan-e Ghori District of Baghlan

    The Afghan security forces have recaptured the Taliban’s long-held strategic Dahan-e-Ghori district in northern Baghlan province after three years.

    The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement that dozens of Taliban fighters, including key regional commanders and shadow administrators, were killed in the ongoing operation in Baghlan province and the province recaptured.

    According to the statement, the Taliban had suffered heavy casualties and now do not have the capacity to stand against security forces.

    MoD has not commented regarding the casualties of security forces during the operations, but added that the operations will continue in the province.

    This comes as the security forces cleared the Dand-e Ghori district of the insurgents yesterday.
