19 Police Soldiers Poisoned in Laghman

Local officials in Laghman confirmed that 19 national and local police soldiers have been poisoned in the province.

Asadullah Dawlatzai, spokesman for the governor of Laghman, told Reporterly on Saturday that 19 soldiers, including the National Police and the local police, had been poisoned at their checkpoints in the central city of Mehtarlam and in the Alishang district of the province.

Dawlatzai added that the poisoned soldiers had regained their composure and returned to their duties.

A spokesman for the governor of Laghman confirmed that 11 contractors, including bakers, had been arrested in connection with the incident.

The motive and details of the incident have not been cleared yet and investigations are ongoing, officials added
