55 More Taliban Prisoners Released Amid Peace Efforts

The National Security Council (NSC) says at least 55 more Taliban prisoners have been released from the Prisons of nine provinces.

The spokesman of NSC, Jawid Faisal said, “Based on a presidential decree, 55 more Taliban prisoners have been released from Paktia, Logar, Badakhshan, Jawzjan, Ghazni, Baghlan, Khost, Paktia and Maidan Wardak provinces.

According to Faisal, the prisoners were released based on the current peace efforts and the fight against the coronavirus.

With the release of these prisoners, the number of Taliban members released by the Afghan government reaches 487.
