Britain To Grant £130m to Afghanistan

At the same time during president Ghani’s visit to UK, the presidential palace has announced that UK is about to grant 130 million pounds to Afghanistan.

On his second day of visit in Britain, Mr. Ghani met Rory Stewart, Secretary of State for International Development of the UK, and both sides talked about regional connectivity, development and humanitarian cooperation, presidential palace press office said in a statement on Monday.

The statement further added, while appreciating the no-stop cooperation of Britain with Afghanistan, the president said that Afghanistan needs the assistance and experience of developed countries especially Britain for development of regional connectivity.

President Ghazni asked UK that as an international observer, the country should monitor the upcoming presidential elections in Afghanistan to ensure transparency in the process.

In addition to assuring UK comprehensive support in the field of regional connectivity in Afghanistan, Rory Stewart stressed that, along with humanitarian cooperation commitments of Brussel, his country will grant 130 million pounds to Afghanistan.
