Armed men stormed a hospital in the western part of the Kabul on Tuesday, where the medical charity Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres – MSF) runs a maternity clinic.
Confirming the attack on Dasht-e-Barchi Hospital, MSF said that efforts are still on-going to evacuate patients and staff.
Armed men attacked the 100-Bed hospital in Dasht-e Barchi area of Kabul city at around 10:00am.
The 100-bed government-run facility is supported by Doctors Without Borders, which is also known by its French name Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said at least four people have been killed and five others including children wounded so far.
According to the MoI officials, the first floor of the hospital has been cleared of the insurgents and the clearance operation is underway.
The Ministry added that more than 80 civilians were rescued by the security forces up to now.
