First VP & HPC Chief show support for Abdullah Abdullah’s candidature in Presidential run

On Saturday, Jamiat-e-Islami confirmed candidature of Dr Abdullah Abdullah for presidential elections.

A gathering took place in Kabul on Sunday to announce support for Dr Abdullah Abdullah’s nomination in the 2019 Presidential Election.

First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum at the gathering expressed that Abdullah Abdullah and his team “will be the winner in the presidential elections” as he endorses Abdullah’s ticket.

“We can be effectable in bringing security to the country. As you know, the situation in the country is sensitive and insecurity has increased”, Dostum added.

It was also decided that Jamiat-e-Islami, Jubesh-e-Islami and Wahdat-e-Islami parties will join the race in a single ticket.

“We are moving towards the 4th presidential elections,” Karim Khalili, HPC chief said at a gathering in support of Chief Executive Abdullah. “It is an honor for us and we hope to pass through this stage with a transparent election.”

Khalili also expressed that he hopes the elections will not create political issues as he believes that the country is in a ‘sensitive situation’. He also called on the presidential candidates to change their rivalry to friendship.

At the gathering, Dr Abdullah explained that his team will consist two running mates for first and second vice president and a chief executive with two deputies.

VP Dostum confirmed that his chief of staff, Enayatullah Babur Farhamand, and Asadullah Sa’adati will be Abdullah Abdullah’s running mates in upcoming presidential election.

“We created the National Unity Government for people’s interests and for the good of the country and never looked at it as two teams,” Abdullah said.

He stressed “We want peace with dignity. Peace is the real demand of Afghans”.
