Jaghoori District’s Police Chief Dismissed, 2 Guards Arrested Following Sexual Assault Claim

Police chief of Jaghori district in Ghazni province has been dismissed and his two guards were arrested after the guards were accused of raping two women, officials said on Monday.

It came as dozens of residents gathered outside the administrative headquarters of the district demanding punishment for the culprits and dismissal of local officials.
Police chief of Ghazni’s Jaghori district suspended as residents protest over alleged rape of two girls by two guards of the official, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said.

MoI spokesman, Tariq Arian said, “The police chief of Ghazni’s Jaghori district dismissed, two of his guards arrested, following rape allegations against the guards.”

Arian added that a delegation has been sent to Jaghori district to investigate the case from the capital.

He stressed that the police’s systematic behavior is important to the Ministry of Interior, and that any police officer who violates the principles will be seriously prosecuted.
