NATO Calls on Taliban to Reduce Violence, Implement US Agreement

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg has called on the Taliban to reduce attacks and to “implement the agreement” (between the US and Taliban), saying this is the only way to a peaceful solution.

Stoltenberg in a video conference declared that NATO supports the US-Taliban peace agreement, which includes the prisoner swap.

He emphasized that NATO will continue its train, advise, assist mission for the Afghan security forces.

“NATO will continue to stay committed to Afghanistan with international support, with our Resolute Support mission, with training, because we believe that the best way for us to support a peace process is to continue to support the Afghans,” Stoltenberg said.

“The alliance has expanded its preventive measures to save its troops, but NATO’s military activities continue from Afghanistan to Kosovo,” he added.
