Over 50 Taliban Killed, Wounded In Attacks Confirmed By Afghan Security Forces

At least 27 Taliban were killed and another 27 wounded in various attacks confirmed by Afghan security forces on their social media pages on Wednesday.

In Paktia, two Taliban were killed and three injured when they attacked a funeral procession of a local police officer on Tuesday afternoon, the 203rd Thunder Corps said.

Local officials confirmed that 15 Taliban were killed and 10 more injured when they attacked a security checkpoint in the Sra Baghal area of Maiwand district of Kandahar on Tuesday night.

The Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps (ANASOC) confirmed that airstrikes were carried out to support the security forces. Kandahar police spokesperson Jamal Nasir Barakzai said that three policemen were also killed while four were injured.

Afghan security forces repulsed a series of attacks in Tajikan village in Baghlan province on Tuesday, killing one Taliban members and wounding another.

The 3rd Brigade of the 217th Pamir Corps also located and defused nine different types of mines in the area of Chashma-e-Shir area of the province, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

An attack in Dand Ghori was also repulsed which led to the death of nine Taliban and seven were wounded, the MoD said.

In Zabul’s Mizan district, the MoD said that 10 Taliban were killed and four were injured when they attacked security forces.

In Paktika’s Abdali and Sheikhan area of Barmal and Urgun districts, Afghan security forces foiled multiple attacks which killed five Taliban and injured at least 13 more, the MoD and the Special Operations Corps said.

In Wardak province, four Taliban were killed and six others were wounded when they attacked a checkpoint of the security forces, the 203rd Thunder Corps wrote.

The attack in the Pul-e-Surkh area of Nerkh district was repulsed and no security forces were injured.
