Over 60 Security Personnel Killed, Wounded In Attacks Across Afghanistan

Taliban claimed to have killed or wounded as many as 49 security personnel, and shooting down a helicopter during clashes with the Afghan National defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) in multiple areas of Raghistan district of Badakhshan.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Saturday, they had inflicted heavy casualties on Taliban insurgents in Badakhshan, killing 24 and wounding four more, during clashes at security checkpoints.

In the national capital of Kabul, a series of three explosions early on Saturday, left one security personnel dead and four others wounded. Local media also reported that an MoD employee who was an army colonel was shot dead, along with his driver, by armed motorcyclists in PD 8 of the city at 8 am on Saturday.

Two Taliban members were also arrested during ANDSF operations in Kabul province’s northern district of Shakardara on Friday night. The MoD said the clearing operations would continue till the area was secured.

Attacks against People’s Uprising Forces members have also increased with Taliban killing at least 13 and wounding at least six in recent attacks.

Takhar governor’s spokesperson Jawad Hijri said that Taliban attacked the camp of Malek Tatar in Khwaja Bahauddin district on Friday night, killing at least nine People’s Uprising forces members and wounding another one.

In Daykundi’s Pato district, varied accounts by the police spokesperson and security chief of the district, said at least four People’s Uprising Forces members were killed and five wounded when Taliban attacked their checkpoint in the district at 12 am on Friday. They said at least five Taliban fighters were also killed and four wounded during the clashes.

The MoD said that 30 Taliban fighters were killed after security forces repelled attack in Taranak Wa – Jaldak district of Zabul on Friday.

At least 10 Taliban fighters were killed and 13 injured in Sar-i-Pul’s Sozma Qala district on Friday night. The fatalities included Red Unit commander Hamidullah alias Norani. Two security personnel were also injured during the fight.

14 Taliban members were killed and three wounded when their attack was repelled by the ANDSF in Faryab’s Khwaja Sabposh district on Friday.

The Afghan National Army also discovered and defused four IEDs in Sar-i-Pul’s Sozma Qala district, and another one along National Highway 1 in Wardak.

Parwan governor’s spokesperson Wahida Shahkar said two mem were arrested while planting a mine in a police ranger in Salang district of the province.

Taliban insurgents also confirmed news of clashes along security posts on the Kunduz-Takhar highway in the Khanabad district of Kunduz, early on Friday morning.
