The Afghan Independent Election Commission (IEC) has announced preliminary results of the parliamentary elections of Kabul at a press conference on Monday afternoon (14 Jan).
The election commission recalled and audited votes of Kabul several times in order to finalize the list. The commission announced the election results of Kabul, which has been criticized for delaying the announcement.
Gula Jan AbdulBadi Sayaad, chairman of IEC, said at a news conference in Kabul that the commission accepts shortcomings in the process, stating various internal and external interventions delayed the announcement of the initial results, including the announcement of the results of the Kabul election.
According to him, the presidential elections would be much better comparing this election.
“Of the candidates who have not won, our expectation is to respect the decisions of the commission and not create problems for the commission in the center and in the provinces.” chairman Mr. Sayaad said.
