Afghan local officials have confirmed that at least 40 people have been killed and wounded in a funeral ceremony of a local police commander in Nangarhar province.
The spokesman of Nangarhar governor, Ataullah Khogyani told Reporterly that the incident took place at the funeral ceremony of Sheikh Akram, the local police commander of Kuzkonar District at around 11:00am on Tuesday.
According to Khogyani, 40 people were killed and wounded, but the exact figure is not clear so far.
He added that Sheik Akram died from a hearth attack on Monday night.
