Seyad Taha Sadiq: Lawmaker from Herat
Sayed Taha Sadiq was born in 1989 in Herat province, and completed his school in Herat province. He then obtained his bachelor’s degree in the field of Management and Commerce from India and received his master’s degree in Urban Analysis and Management from a University in Italy.
He is an ethnic Tajik and competed as an independent candidate for the parliamentary elections from Herat. Prior to entering the Afghan house of representatives, Mr. Sadiq had worked in a government department in the financial and administrative sector. He had also been involved in social work.
Abdul Zahir Tamim: Lawmaker from Ghor
Abdul Zahir Tamim was born in 1981 in a religious family in Madrasa village, Feroz Koh, which is the the capital of Ghor province.
He began his education from the same village and tool lessons in Holy Quran. He later emigrated to Iran where he continued his education and memorized the holy Quran. Upon the establishment of Interim government in Afghanistan, he returned to thr country and began his 10th grade at the Abu Hanifa school in Kabul. After clearing the Kankor examination, he bagged a seat in the Sharia faculty of Herat university and obtained his BA in Fiqah and law in 2009.
His work experience includes working in the Neda-e-Zan organization and in the election commission. He also served as a district governor of Taywarah district, Ghor province for seven years. He is an ethnic Tajik and has been an independent candidate in 17th round of parliament.
Nangyali Lawang: Lawmaker from Kabul
Nangyali Lawang was born in 1988 in Ghazni province. He graduated from the Khwaja Abdullah Ansari school and holds two bachelor’s degree in Literature and Economics. He also obtained his master’s degree in International Relations.
Mr. Lawang is a new entrant in 17th round of parliament. He had previously been involved in business operations and had also served at the Directorate of Education for Kuchis. He was a member of the Kuchis Youth Parliament.
Mr. Lawang competed as an independent candidate from the Kuchis constituency in this round of Afghan parliament.
Sufi Abdul Razaq Istalifi: Lawmaker from Kabul
Sufi Abdul Razaq Istalifi was born in 1956, in Istalif district of Kabul city.
He graduated from the Istalif school in 1973 but could not manage to pursue his higher education due to war and emigration. Sufi Abdul Razaq Istalifi is an ethnic Tajik and he has been elected to the Afghan parliament for the first time.
He has also served at the people’s council in Istalif district.
He doesn’t hold membership in any political party and is an independent candidate.
Fida Mohammad Ulfat Saleh: Lawmaker from Kabul
Fida Mohammad Ulfat Saleh was born in 1986 in the Bagrami district of Parwan province. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from thr Swiss University’s Dubai branch.
Mr. Sahel is an ethnic Tajik and has been elected to the Afghan house of representatives for the first time. He was previously involved in business operations.
He doesn’t hold membership in political parties and is an independent candidate.
Hashmatullah Arman: Lawmaker from Faryab
Hashamtullah Arman, son of Abdulsamad, was born in 1988 in Faryab province. He received his primary education in Faryab province. After the war began in the country, he and his family moved to Turkmenistan where he continued his education and graduated from school.
Like his father, Mr. Arman was ran a business and was involved in importing oil and other goods such as flour. He is from the Aimaq tribe.
Rasul Khan Kuchi: Lawmaker from Kuchi Constituency
Rasul Khan Kuchi was born in 1982 in the Bagrami district of Kabul province. He is a graduate in Economics.
He is a new entrant in the Afghan parliament from the Kuchi constituency.
Prior to getting elected to the parliament, he ran a business. He is from the Ahmadzai tribe and is an independent candidate.
Sayed Babur Jalam: Lawmaker from Faryab
Sayed Babar Jamal was born in 1984 in Faryab province. He completed his school at the Afghan-Turk school in Mazar-e-Sharif in 2000.
Mr. Jamal earned his bachelor’s degree from the Polytechnic University in 2006.
Sayed Babar Jamal is an ethnic Tajik and it is the first time that he won a seat in the Afghan house of representatives. Before getting elected to the parliament, he had a construction company and ran operations there.
He doesn’t hold membership in political parties and competed as an independent candidate for the parliamentary elections from Faryab province.

Shahpoor Popal: Lawmaker from Herat
Shahpoor Popal was born in 1967 in Herat province. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Law in 2017.
Popal is an ethnic Pashtun and has secured a seat in the Afghan parliament for the first time. He had previously served as the chairman of Popal Tribes Council.
Mr. Popal doesn’t hold membership in any political parties and is an independent candidate.
Ghulam Sarwar Saadat: Lawmaker from Takhar
Ghulam Sarwar Saadat was born in 1969 in Warsaj district of Takhar province. Due to the war in Afghanjstan, Mr. Saadat wasn’t able to attend any formal school but managed to receive religious education in Kunduz, Takhar. He later obtained his bachelor’s degree in Sharia in 1992.
He is an ethnic Tajik and it is the first time that he has been elected to the Afghan parliament. Mr. Saadat has founded the Rah-e-Saadat university in Mazar-i-Sharif and also has a publication by the name of “Sadat Publication” in Kabul and Balkh provinces.
He doesn’t hold membership in political parties and was an independent candidate for the parliamentary elections.
