Local authorities in Nangarhar have announced the reopening of the Pakistani consulate in the province.
The spokesman for Nangarhar’s provincial governor, Ataullah Khugyani, told Khabarnama that the Pakistani authorities have come to an agreement with the Afghan Foreign Ministry to reopen the consulate.

But Mr. Khugyani emphasized that they would not be able to resume their activities unless we receive an official letter from the central government authorities about the reopening of the consulate.
This comes after the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul said they had closed the consulate in Jalalabad due to the intervention of the Governor of Nangarhar, Hayatullah Hayat.
