COVID-19 Infections Moving From East To West Of Country: Health Ministry

Kabul: With rising daily positive cases of the coronavirus infection, the Ministry of Public Health officials on Saturday said that the COVID-19 wave is moving from east to west of the country and most of it was recorded in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kandahar, Kabul, Herat, Nimroz and Khost provinces.

The officials raised the issue at a consultative meeting on the management of the third coronavirus wave and a number of Afghan health professionals from the United States and Europe were consulted at the meeting, the presidential palace statement said.

The meeting discussed further coordination to combat the COVID-19 wave, vaccine adaptation, oxygen delivery and hospital equipment.

According to the statement, officials from the Ministry of Public Health said that there are currently 24 coronavirus testing laboratories in 18 provinces and that these laboratories will be available in all provinces by the end of June.

Meanwhile, President Ashraf Ghani stressed on the need to address the challenge of oxygen deprivation and said that private sector cooperation should be sought in this regard and a program should be worked on to address the challenge of oxygen deprivation.
