62,000 Tonnes of Pine Nuts to Be Exported to China Up to Next 5 Years

Afghanistan Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has said the country will export 62,000 of pine nuts to China over the next five years.

The contract in this regard was signed between Afghan and Chinese companies in the Afghan embassy in Beijing last week.

The contract is worth 2.2 billion US dollars, Hashmatullah Ghafoori, deputy minister for irrigation said at a press conference in Kabul.

The deputy of minister of agriculture, Hamshmatullah Ghafori in a joint press conference on Monday said, “According to the agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture will provide the Chinese companies with the necessary immunity for the harvesting of pine nuts, and the transfer from any province to the Hiratan port will be the responsibility of Afghanistan and from Hiratan to its destination will be the responsibility of China.”

He stated that the process of transferring the bulk of the supplies from Afghanistan to China will be carried out via the Hiratan port through the railway.

Ghafori added that the companies also signed contract for exporting Afghanistan’s pistachio, almond and walnut.
