Uruzgan Disaster Not an Ethnic Battle: Chief Executive Abdullah

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah at the Council of Ministers meeting pointed out that the conflict in Uruzgan is not particularly an ethnic dispute and that the Taliban has inflicted casualties on the security forces of Afghanistan.

“People who have always supported the system, [they] should not feel that the government is unaware of them. We have issued orders for the resistance of the Uruzgan, and we will soon see positive results,” Dr Abdullah assured.

He also emphasised on the nature of the situation in Uruzgan that “The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack and used any light and heavy weapons in Uruzgan, so it seems that it is not an ethnic battle.”

This comes after there has been continued emphasis and focus on the violence in Uruzgan inflicted by the Taliban.
