Security officials reported that Taliban group flogged a boy and girl in Faryab province.
Rafiq a 20-year-old boy was in touch with Zahra, a 17 year old girl from Kohistan district, over the phone. He then fled with her to his home in Qaraye village of Almar district, an area under the control of Taliban insurgents, Abdulkarim Yourish, spokesperson of Faryab police told Reporterly on Saturday.
Yourish added that, following the incident the Taliban became aware of the matter and acted upon it, this morning by punishing them with 50 lashes in public.
After the punishment, the Taliban group handed them to their families, according to Yourish.
