Abducted Passengers Released by Afghan Forces in Herat

Local officials in Herat province say government forces have succeeded in releasing the abducted passengers in an “immediate” move by unidentified gunmen.

Sayed Wahid Qatali, the governor of Herat, has said at a press conference that by the launch of ground and air operations, the armed men released the passengers, but took away the bus and its driver.

He added that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the bus yesterday morning on the Herat-Torghandi highway.

Qatali did not mention the number of released passengers.
