Education Ministry Bans Election Campaigns at Universities and Higher Education Institutions

The Ministry of Higher Education has said that universities and higher education institutions are centers for teaching, research and science, hence, election campaigns are prohibited in these places.

The Ministry of Higher Education in a statement on Sunday called on all employees, university lectures and students to abstain from conducting conferences, lectures and other activities related to electoral campaigns and similar to those prohibited by law.

Based on the election law, no official or government employee has the right to use government facilities or official time to campaign for a specific candidate, the statement added.

The Ministry of Higher Education has emphasized that the violators will be introduced to the related institutions.

Meanwhile, earlier the Ministry of Education banned the use of students in welcoming ceremonies of government and foreign officials as well as in election campaigns.
