CE Abdullah Abdullah Expresses Concern Over Appointments by President Ghani

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah at the Council of Ministers meeting acknowledged the concern of the Presidential candidates and called for early attention to those concerns.

The candidates are having concerns regarding the recent appointments by President Ghani on the grounds that they may be politically motivated.

He also said that the recent appointments by President Ghani are political decisions.

Moreover, raising the issue of women’s’ participation Abdullah said – “the allegations by President Ghani’s advisor about abuse against women at the Presidential Palace are unfortunate and that such allegations can affect women’s efforts in Afghanistan”.

Abdullah stresses on transparency in the upcoming elections and says 16 weeks have remained for the polls and that there should be no delay in using any opportunity for peace during this time.

He added that -” he does not want to comment on the tensions over the election of the Parliament’s administrative board but adds that people will get nothing if laws, regulations and people’s rights are replaced by “bullying”.

Abdullah says allegations against parliamentary elections should be assessed independently and it should not be treated politically in order to restore public trust in government.
