Afghan National and Defenses Security Forces (ANDSF) have retaken the control of Shahr-e Kuhna of Yangi Qala district in Takhar after 4 years and 6 months, security officials said.
Takhar police chief, Sayed Marajuddin Sadat confirmed the news and noted that Shahr-e Kuhna which was one of the main hideouts and center of the Taliban group was recaptured by security forces.

He noted that during the operation five villages including Shahr-e Kunha were cleared of Taliban insurgents.
According to Takhar police chief, 10 Taliban insurgents were killed and 8 others injured in the operation.
