At least 13 members of the local People’s Uprising Forces were killed and four others wounded in a late-night attack in Takhar on Thursday.
Jawad Hijri, spokesperson for the Takhar governor, told Reporterly that the clashes started at around 0:30 am when Taliban attacked a security checkpoint of a pro-government fighter named Malek Tatar in the Khwaja Bahauddin district of the province.
The clashes lasted for over two hours and several Taliban members were also injured.
Hijri said that border forces had been sent to the area and that Taliban attack had been repulsed.
