Group of Friends of Peace Processes Cohosted by Afghan and Irish Mission at UN

The first meeting of the Group of Friends of Peace Processes was co-hosted this morning by the Afghan Mission at UN & Irish Mission at UN.

Afghan Ambassador Adela Raz met with Luis Alfondo de Alba, the Special Envoy for the 2019 Climate Summit and discussed with him the potential of Afghanistan as an incubator for renewal energy and climate friendly technologies, as well as ways to attain technical expertise & funding to achieve this.

This GoF will serve as an experience sharing platform aimed at strengthening the efforts of Member States & the UN to prevent & resolve conflicts, as per the statement of Afghan Mission at UN.

“We are thankful for the presence of H.E. Former Prime Minister of Ireland, Bertie Ahern, who enlightened the Group of Friends’ meeting with his wealth of experience in conflict resolution evidenced by his role in the Northern Ireland Peace Process & other efforts around the world”, the statement said.
