Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad and US Ambassador to Kabul John Bass on Wednesday.
“Delighted to have had the opportunity for a substantive discussion on most issues of significance for Afghanistan & our partnership with the US. This opportunity is very crucial for all Afghans that @US4AfghanPeace is consulting with you for Afghan peace process we hope that you and international community will do their best for upcoming Intra-Afghan talks”, Atmar tweeted.
He said that while the pursuit of peace should continue unabated, it is also time to refocus on the elections.
“The outcome of a fair & transparent presidential election could be a game changer for peace – bringing a new, more legitimate AFG leadership to the stalled intra-AFG process”, he conceded.
