Nabil: Afghans Second Priority for Khalilzad, Pak and Taliban Top for Them

Former NDS Director Rahmatullah Nabil tweeted that as US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad is back in Kabul, he feels Khalilzad will try to convince President Ghani to accept political framework.

“I think the US pushing for two options”, he said.

According to him, the first option is to extend current government with Ghani as acting president for 1-2 years then an “honorable exit package for Pre. Ghani.”

The second option will be-Election will happen in September whilst the US & others will “not be vocal about election fraud”, and if & when inter-afghan dialogue is finished then an honorable exit package will be prepared for Ghani.

Nabil conceded that Pakistan and Taliban are given priority by US in the political framework “deal” they have envisioned, whereas priority of Afghans are secondary for Khalilzad.
