658 New COVID-19 Cases Take Afghanistan Tally Near 12,000

Afghanistan’s total number of confirmed cases nears the 12,000 mark as the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced 658 new cases of the Coronavirus during the past 24 hours.

MoPH officials say the tally is now 11,831 total cases with one death and 30 recovered patients during the past 24 hours.

The maximum number of new cases were reported in the provinces of Kabul (237), Herat (85), Balkh (77), Baghlan (59), Badghis, Farah (52 each) and Faryab (29).

In the meantime, 27 cases in Nangarhar, 11 in Bamyan, 7 in Logar, 6 in Kapisa, 4 in Sar-e-Pul, and one in each provinces of Takhar and Samangan.

This comes as 70 doctors and health workers have been infected with the virus in Balkh province, MoPH officials added.
