Afghanistan has sent its third shipment of transit goods to India via Iran’s Shahid Behesti port in Chabahar, local officials said on Wednesday.
Director General of Sistan-Baluchistan Ports and Maritime Affairs Behrouz Aghaei said that a “vessel carrying 70 ordinary and refrigerated TEUs, set sail from Shahid Beheshti port in Chabahar on Sunday and is destined for the Indian ports of Mundra and Nhava Sheva.”
Aghaei said that the shipment is being done in accordance to a trilateral deal between Iran, Afghanistan and India.
On Wednesday, India also shipped out its sixth consignment of 8,200 metric tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan as part of the “humanitarian gesture” to ensure food security during the COVID-19 pandemic.
