Acting foreign Minister Haneef Atmar met Axel Zeidler, Ambassador-designate of the Germany to Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Zeidler presented a copy of his credentials to Atmar who welcomed him to the country and wished him success for strengthening relations between Afghanistan and Germany.
Atmar emphasized the importance of their bilateral ties and reiterated the Afghan government’s commitment especially with regard to the peace process and stability in Afghanistan.
He also expressed gratitude for Germany’s role in facilitating the intra-Afghan dialogue.
The new envoy underscored the historic ties between Afghanistan and Germany and expressed appreciation for the close cooperation that exists between the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan and the German Embassy in Kabul.
