EU In Contact With India On Afghan Peace Process

The European Union (EU) is “in contact with India” to ensure that the Afghan peace process happens in a “constructive way” they said in a statement, ahead of the India-EU summit.

EU officials said they hoped for the peace negotiations in Afghanistan to start “anytime soon” and were engaged in talking to other key partners to make sure this happens, including India and Pakistan.

They reiterated their commitment to Afghanistan and said, “EU is fully supportive of peace efforts.”

The organisation has adopted a resolution that calls for the Taliban to engage in trust and confidence-building efforts to start the talks.
