President Ghani has restricted the authorities of all governmental institutions in the procurement division. In a new decree that has been released by him, the President has now authorised the national procurement department to take charge of all procurement related issues of the ministries and institutions.
Previously, ministries and government institutions had the authority to review and approve procurement related cases having a value of up to 100 million Afghanis. But after the latest decree, President has stated that the National Procurement Department and the head of the department will have the authority to review and approve all procurement related cases starting from next fiscal year.
Ministry of Finance and Presidential palace’s administration have been intimated about the changes and been told to give all required facilitation to the national procurement department.
